Pre-Demo Day

Just got back from a meeting with Rob Schultz. We did a mock run through of the demo of our website. It went way better than we expected. Rob’s a cool guy. He always has a good word or two for us. He always tells us his wife could really use our website. Sometimes we feel he loves our concept more than we do (if that were possible).

I love how Bernard and Esther stepped it up today. These two are freaking amazing when it comes time to PERFORM. I can not wait for demo day. Hopefully, NO REPEATS of the FLASHPOINT FIASCO (ed- our ppt crashed on us owing to compatibility issues between Office 2007 and 2003).

Fingers crossed.

New kids on the blog!

Hello! Hello! Hello WORLD.

We are two days from one of the biggest moments in our entrepreneurial careers. We demo in front of the board of Illinois Ventures on Friday. While getting the website ready for our demo, I thought it would be a good time to start blogging about ourselves and our experiences with our company.

Fashion Latte is our little baby. We started out 10 weeks back with a goal to build a visual shopping website that WORKS. Deciding to participate in the iVentures10 program is probably one of the best decisions we made. It actually got us going from concept to a vision of our product in a matter of 10 weeks. In 10 weeks we’ve been through a lot. We’ve learned an amazing amount about what works and what does not when it comes to computer vision and machine learning algorithms in the real world. Today we have a technology that crawls 16 top online stores and indexes over 14,000 catalog images by the color, pattern and style (necklines, sleeves, length etc.). We think it is really awesome considering we didn’t have a line of code written till the first week of the program.

More importantly, along the way, Bernard, Esther and I have become stronger friends. We spent a large majority of the last 10 weeks around one another.  And WE SURVIVED. We fought and laughed and ate and shopped and binged on cookies. And we coded too. And boy did we code.

As I end this post, here’s hoping there are many more to come. We feel extremely fortunate to be with each other and be part of a great experience that has been iVentures10. It has been awesome to have Rob and Amit guide us through in these formative weeks of our company. We hope fashionLatte brings to the people the tools they really need to make shopping more fun and intuitive.
