For the last couple of weeks we have been working on adding shoes and handbags to our site. We have about 60,000 shoes and 10,000 handbags indexed in addition to 12,000 dresses. We implemented a mix and match functionality. Users can select dresses and we produce color matches with handbags and shoes. While Bernard and I worked on the image matching parts, Esther set up the site to make the idea of mix and match work. As resident fashion guru she did pretty much most of the text analysis on the shoes and handbags. The end product is pretty cool and we are preping it for the demo on the 3rd of September. Users right now can create nifty outfits and buy them with a click of a button. We’ll add cooler sharing functionalities once the demo is done.
The pitch has been keeping us really busy. Working out the business model and exactly how we are going to make money has been extremely interesting. We spent a significant amount of time arguing revenues and looking up Alexa for our competitors numbers.
Grown up words were thrown about. It made me a little queasy. Had to go back and kick up some GTA IV to bring myself back to being an overgrown kid.
